Long May She Reign

Picture released from Buckingham Palace

I simply could not let today pass by without mentioning that our wonderful Queen is now officially our longest reigning monarch! Today, at approximately 17h30 she surpasses Queen Victoria's reign and Queen Elizabeth II will have been reigning for 23,226 days, sixteen hours and around 30 minutes according to BBC's report this morning. Isn't that just marvellous? Isn't she marvellous? Yip - I'm a huge fan of the royal family :)

These early autumn days here in Devon are beautiful! Mornings start off cool and misty but that soon clears up and we have had some lovely sunny {breezy} afternoons. I mention breezy because it is perfect for getting laundry dry.

I'm taking full advantage of this right now as I know soon the winter rains will arrive and I'll be hanging laundry on radiator dryers clotheshorses and any other available place I can find. Laundry definitely becomes a bit more of a chore in winter.

I've been adding a few autumnal touches around my home. As I mentioned before I have two pots of mums flanking my front door...

I found the most lovely autumn themed wreath a few months ago and TK Maxx but need to get a suction hook in order to hang it on the front door.

My welsh dresser is looking sweet, I have had to get rid of quite a few of my teapots as I have less space to display them in this house, but I am pleased with the ones I have kept and with this little display.

The fireplace mantle is adorned with my handcrafted cushions and bunting...

the praying angel was a going away gift from a friend. When the candles are lit at night she is all aglow and looks beautiful.

On the needles at the mo ...

I am busy with a lovely little project. It's called A Little Ruffle - a free pattern off Ravelry. It will make a very attractive addition to my winter wardrobe. I'm using Drops Alpaca and it is so soft! Notice the bamboo needles. I have been knitting for years and years and most of my needles are the metal/steel ones. But all of a sudden I have really started to hate the way they feel when I use them. The yarn does not seem to glide nicely, they slip out of the stitches way to easily, its all just ugggghhh! So I have decided to start replacing all my steel/metal needles with bamboos. they really are lovely to knit with - there we go - a bit of useless information lol.

Have a lovely Wednesday all... see you back here shortly.
