It's All About Home Today...

Brrrrr! It's chilly today. The skies are mostly clear and it is blustery. The thermometer read 5 degrees C this morning, we have had quite a mild October thus far - I wonder if this is now the prelude to frosty morns and cold days?

I do love this little hanging that I have on my kitchen door. Home is where MY heart is. I love being a wife, a mom and a keeper of the most important place on earth for my family. Their haven from the world, the place that they know they are loved and cherished. I can make that haven even more precious - I control the atmosphere in our home and make it that safe, special place - as do you in your homes.

When I read THIS article on Courtney's blog, I knew that this was another small way that I could continue to nurture the atmosphere of peace and God's love in my home. I had the perfect candle - a gift from Miss J-L, a lovely rustic lavender candle.

So this morning as I went through to the kitchen to get the day on the go, I lit my candle and said a prayer for peace in our home today. As the flickering flame catches my eye throughout the morning, I will be reminded to pray for my family.

Spring bulbs have been going into the garden this week. We have planted quite a few - just two more packs to go! I have quite few in the garden already, but I decided that this year I was going to be planting our spring bulbs in pots. That way I can move the pots around in the spring and also have created lovely blocks of colour. I couldn't help thinking this past spring that last years planting seemed rather lost and sparse. Unfortunately I have seen our naughty kitty using my newly planted pots as a loo! Grrrrr - I don't know why she thinks that bare-topped pots have been set there specifically for her convenience! I am going to have to try deter her somehow - any suggestions welcome :o)

Anyhoo - almost time for lessons to begin so I will love and leave you for today. Have a super day and I hope to see you here very soon.

Blessings
Shirley

  1. I just saw where someone had taken some willow twigs and woven a little thatch in their raised beds to keep the cats out - just enough to deter them will do the trick. I've also heard to top the pot off with coffee grounds because they dont care for the smell.

Also, thanks for sharing the bit about the refuge of a home. I heard a WONDERFUL talk one time and the woman said that, as Christian women, it is our charge in life for our homes to be the closest thing to heaven on earth. Its a daunting task but SO true!
