Oh Happy Day...

There is something quite lovely about being able to hang the washing out doors on a winters day. The sun is shining, temperatures are up from freezing and there is a light breeze blowing. It's all quite happy :)

While hanging up the washing I noticed that the Forsythia has buds waiting to come out - another 'happy' thing. The bright yellow of it's spring blooms is a joy. I think I may bring a few twigs of it indoors to force once my daffodils have reached the end of their flowering power.

A little weekend make...

A little crochet hook roll. I'm not completely happy with it I have to say. The foundation row of my crochet case is tighter than the rest which makes that side of the roll slightly shorter than the rest of it. It makes the fabric pocket insert look a bit skew. But I suppose it does the job :)

Well happy Monday to you all, I hope that your week is off to a fantastic start. See you back here very soon...

  1. I love the smell of washing when it is dried outside. The crochet hook roll was a great idea, I love the colour.

  2. You are a bit braver than me putting washing out in February. I was having a laugh with my mum on the phone yesterday about hanging washing out in winter. I can remember her bringing in sheets that were so stiff with frost they would have stood up on there own. Those were the days when she had an old fashioned mangle to wring the washing out. How things have changed. Don't you love the fresh smell though when it has been outside for a blow.

    1. Catherine, I do love the smell of outside dried laundry! Nothing quite like it, bringing a bit of the freshness indoors - wonderful. I'm certainly glad I don't have to wring my washing through a mangle. Thank goodness for modern day conveniences!

  3. Hi Shirley, my mom used to hang the laundry out to dry too no matter what the weather was outside. I remember how nice everything smelled. I love your crochet hook holder you made. I do wish I could sew. Have a wonderful day.

    1. Hi Julie, I had a friend who told me that her mom-in-law who lived in Scotland used to hand her washing up outdoors even in snowy weather - not sure how that would have worked lol, I'm assuming that she meant when there was snow lying about not actually falling. Apparently she would bring in her frozen washing and shake out the ice! Wow!!

  4. I love seeing this... the laundry on the line. I can't quite get to mine just yet! It's rainy here, today! Snow and rain make for lots of mud. :) I am certainly counting the days!!

    1. Bevy I still have to pop it in the dryer, but only for about 20 minutes to take off the chill and finish it off. But it's mostly dry :)
