Diamond Jubilee Celebrations

June is here and this week-end is set to be a festive one for England. This week-end we celebrate Her Majesty's 60 years on the throne. The television is running loads of tributes documenting the Queens reign - what a lady! After watching some of the documentaries I'm even MORE of a fan than I was before! Yes - our family is a royalist family - we just love the monarchy and all things British. It's been great fun to decorate our house with our thoroughly British Bunting (in the thoroughly British weather *smile*). Our little Union Jacks are decorating our deep windows sills and have added festivity to our bright pots outside the door.

Everywhere you go bunting has been strung up. Bunting has been strung up across the streets, gardens and houses are adorned with bunting, Union Jack flags and English flags. This week-end is packed with celebrations all throughout the country. Tomorrow is probably the highlight of the celebrations. The Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant. One thousand boats from around the UK, commonwealth and world will assemble on the Thames River in London. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will travel on the Royal Barge which will form the centre-piece of the flotilla. Although we will not be in London - we will be sure to watch the festivities later on in the day. The early part of Sunday we will be celebrating on a much smaller scale with our church family. We will all be dressing in red, white and blue and armed with our Union Jacks as we attend tomorrows Diamond Jubilee service ;o)

How wonderful to be a part of history in the making! I just love England and feel so blessed to be here - in this time - in this place!
