Well we have certainly been blessed with an Extraordinary in the Ordinary experience! Yesterday, the girls were out in the afternoon building a 'fort' with some friends on the bank across from our home. Miss V-L came running in -very excited - to collect her camera. She had heard some cheeping coming from a grass mound along the bank. Following the noise she discovered a nest with three baby birds. After watching them for a while she noticed a mama Robin hovering about. Stepping away the Robin flew straight to her babies to feed those demanding little mouths.
We also have a pair of Blue Tits that have made a home out of our little nesting box outside our back door. It is delightful to see them flittering in and out. We have resisted the urge to peek inside as we really do not want to upset or traumatize this little family.
With all the busyness of raising babies at the moment, we are finding our bird feeder needs to be replenished daily - sometimes twice daily! I am glad that we can help make these beautiful little creatures breeding season a little easier by making sure that the feeders are full!
I was really pleased to see that Barb had offered a free 'Extraordinary in the Ordinary' notebooking page. I printed them off and the girls sketched their extraordinary discovery.
I am looking forward to reading this months carnival to see what others are seeing in this focus study! Until then - enjoy your nature trails.
