Can one really ever be too old to enjoy Peter Rabbit and friends?
This is my favourite BP series - I have them on DVD and will delight in watching them with my grandchildren one day ;)
I don't think so. I think that Beatrix Potter created a world that is timeless and stretches across all ages. I can honestly say that I love this little lot of characters now as much as I did when I was small. And I know for a fact that my grandmother feels the same ;)
This year the Royal Mint has brought and is bringing out a series of 50p coins to celebrate and mark Beatrix Potters life - her 150th birthday I do believe. My daughter happened to get one by pure luck - I don't think the lady operating the cash register knew what she was handing over. You can buy each coin in the collection for £10.00 a pop! While I am not a coin collector nor do I plan to become one, I will be keeping an eye out for any other Beatrix Potter coins that are in circulation.
I wanted to show you one of my own prized Beatrix Potter treasuries that I adore and could never part with. In fact it was one of the few books that got shipped from SA to England in our move just over five years ago.
It's the Beatrix Potter A Journal...
It's pages are an absolute delight to read over and over.
There are little additions throughout the book, as if Miss Potter is writing personally to you. There's a copy of a game she made up, letters that you can take out of the envelope and read, and embedded into the back cover is a copy of her first book 'Peter Rabbit'.
You can buy this book from Amazon for around £4.60 - there is a kindle version but I would not recommend buying it in that format - the hardcover edition is what you want.
I have a few Peter Rabbit cross-stitch charts actually - have had them for a few years - and I am always meaning to get around to stitching at least one of them - think I might make that a goal for this year.
Wishing you all a whimsical weekend... ;)
