Yarn Along :: Winter Notebook

I have been knitting many of these sweet, warm and practical ear warmers lately...

I have given many away as Christmas gifts, this is what is left over and they will be going into my Etsy Store which I hope to launch in the next week or so.

I have also been crocheting these cute rose brooches - specially for my Etsy store. I am just waiting for the brooch pins to arrive and then we are good to go.

Reading: The Shop on Blossom Street by Debbie Mocomber. Can you guess why this book caught my eye? It totally has to do with the pretty cover I have to admit. All those baskets of yarn, a sleeping kitty, pretty flowers and mugs of coffee - I just had to find out what this book was all about. I am pleased to say that I was hooked from the very first chapter. This is the first of quite a few books based around the knitting shop on blossom Street and I can't wait to read them all!

Our protagonist is a 30 year old who has survived cancer twice. She opens a yarn shop. Knitting has been a life saver for her. While she was fighting for her life, knitting gave her hope, a reason to keep going. The yarn shop brings together a group of woman, all so very different, each with their own complicated lives. They all seem to be completely mis-matched, yet none of them could ever have guessed how close they would become...

An additional bonus with these books is that they have patterns included of some of the projects they work on in the book. How can you not love that? Fiction, yarn and knitting all rolled into one. Sounds like a winner to me!
